Ketchikan Zodiac Boat Adventure

Hop aboard our Zodiac boats for a guided excursion on the Pacific Ocean in Alaska’s Inside Passage!

At the Ketchikan Kayak Company, we’re only interested in experiences where you, the guests, can take control and do the piloting, paddling or peddling. There are many Ketchikan boat tours that allow you to just ride along, this isn’t one of them! Small groups of up to 3 inflatable boats follow a guide boat through the rugged coastal islands of Southeast Alaska. Your guide will introduce you to a bald eagles nest, and explore the protected waterways of the Tongass Narrows with you seeking out resident seals and sea lions,  inter tidal creatures such as sea stars and hopefully, everyone’s favorite, humpback whales or migrating Orca pods! While we can never guarantee whale sightings on any given tour and every season varies, the Tongass Narrows is often a hot spot for Humpbacks feeding on Herring each summer and migrating up to Juneau and back, as well as pods of resident Orca hunting schools of salmon. Zipping around in zodiac boats allows us to go to where the whales may be that day.

Exploring the Tongass National Forest, the second largest rainforest in the world after the Amazon, by driving your own boat is second to none! We do get our fair share of rain, but we have you covered though! All waterproof bibs, jackets, gloves and boots are provided for the ride.

After returning to the dock, enjoy a complimentary cold beverage or hot chocolate and enjoy the super short, 2 minute ride back to the downtown docks. A great itinerary to maximize your time in Ketchikan during short port calls!

Details:

• At least 1 guest must be 21+ to drive the boat. This is a self driven excursion on the water. Up to 4 guests may be in each vessel. If you are a couple you may be paired with another couple on the tour. Often times up to 2 guests will have time to drive the boat on a tour. 
  
• Waterproof Bibs,  rain jackets, gloves and boots are provided. We recommend that you bring warm hat or scarf and wear clothing that would be appropriate for an outdoor hike through the forest with the weather on your given day. The best advice for gearing up for any excursion along your Alaskan cruise route is to bring layers.
• Quick dry clothing is always better than blue jeans!
